How does the guaranteed internship work? +
The top 10% of teams — as evaluated by our judges — will receive a guaranteed internship offer from Emergera Hacks or one of our partner companies. This is a real, paid opportunity, not just a certificate. The more teams that participate, the more internship spots open up. Details will be shared at the awards ceremony.
I have no idea what to build. Should I still apply? +
Absolutely yes. The Open Track and our Day 1 idea workshop exist specifically for you. Show up, tell mentors what you care about, and they'll help you find a project worth building. Hundreds of past hackers had no plan when they arrived and shipped something they were proud of.
Is it really free? Any hidden costs? +
Completely free. Entry, food, hardware kits, API credits, and swag are all included. Bring yourself and a laptop. Loaner laptops may be available — mention it in your application if needed.
Do I need a team before I apply? +
No. Apply solo — we run a team formation mixer on Saturday morning. Many of the best teams form the morning of the event. Teams are 2–5 students.
Where exactly is the venue? +
